Phoenix Cricket Club - Life Members Game
by Gary Hartman
This Saturday, December 1, Phoenix Cricket Club will be fielding a team made up entirely of club Life Members, in the One-Day A Grade against Hilton-Palmyra. This may well be a first for the SMCA, but it is certainly a first for Phoenix.
Phoenix Cricket Club are in the fortunate position of having 14 Life Members that still take to the field on a regular basis, and selecting a final XI was a delicate process. Here is the listed team, and the number of games that they have played for Phoenix. Note that for most of the players, most of the games played were during a time where there was very little, or even no, One-Day cricket, which makes some of these games tallies absolutely remarkable.

It is certainly an event to celebrate, and Phoenix Cricket Club would like to thank the Hilton-Palmyra Cricket Club for actively supporting this venture, and the SMCA for allowing some flexibility in the fixturing to have this game played at Tempest Park, the home of the Phoenix Cricket Club. So, if you’re at a loss for something to do this Saturday afternoon, why not make your way down to Tempest Park in Coolbellup. The bar and the kitchen will be open from 1pm, and it promises to be great day for all involved!
