Report:

Members of the opposition club (Kenwick) claim significant racist comments and threats of violence were made against their players while batting by Kwinana Player Jordan Petrone in the Sixth grade round 4 match played between Kenwick as Kwinana

Tribunal notes:

1. Mr Petrone was charged with a Level 3 offence - Vilification of a major nature including but not limited too, racial, religious, colour, ethnic origin, cultural or severe personal nature. 2. Mr Petrone pleaded NOT GUILTY 3. Witness's from Kenwick were asked to provide their version of events and generally all statements corresponded with the provided written statements. 4. Kwinana's response was that there was intimidating behaviour, abuse and aggressive behaviour as collaborated by the Kwinana team captain and witness, however they denied racial vilification. 5. The statements and testimonies from both teams were then deliberated by the Panel. 6. The Kwinana Captain thanked the Panel for a fair hearing. 7. It was noted by the Panel that Aaron Kerby,the Kwinana Captain had conducted himself well and had tried to settle matters down on several occasions during the match. The Panel thanked him for his efforts.

Penalty:

It was deemed that there was insufficient evidence of the level 3 racial vilification offence and Mr Petrone was not guilty of this charge. However, Mr Petrone was found guilty of a level 2 charge offence "intimidating and aggressive behaviour and was given a 12 week suspension with 6 weeks suspended until the end of the 2022/2023 season.
